You may wonder if the SEO Club suits you and your business. In this blog article, I explain exactly what the SEO Club is and what you can achieve.
The core of the SEO Club is an online course that explains SEO in non-technical terms. You will also learn how to improve your website and make it look more professional.
Furthermore, we host guest speaker presentations on all things business and marketing once a month.
The SEO Club is unique. It’s an online community of businesswomen who want to improve their businesses, attract more customers, increase sales, and achieve financial success.
Let’s get the money thing out of the way first.
You are in business to make money (well, most people are!). Money is not a bad word nor a bad thing to want. We all need money for the mortgage, holidays, our kids’ clothes, Christmas presents, etc.
You’re not in business only to make money but also to spend time doing something you love. If you’ve found this one thing you love doing, and it makes money for you, working in and on your business will be pure joy (you found the unicorn!). You don’t mind spending the odd evening doing overtime to build your business or give your customers exceptional service.
So, wanting money for your products and services is a good thing and not something to be ashamed of.
What’s the unicorn doing here? We all need a little glitter and magic in our lives! I could have also put this graphic in place to explain the unicorn effect… 🙂
You’ve already got a business, and you know who you want to work with (sort of)
Our members already have a business – albeit it might be a super young business – less than a year old! However, most SEO Club members have been in a business for over a year, and they’ve spent the time building their website. They have gone through the pain of selecting a website platform, such as WordPress, Wix or Squarespace. They have a logo and know roughly who they want to work with, i.e., their target customer or dream client.
For example, you could be a cake maker offering bespoke and intricate kids’ birthday cakes. Or you’re an acupuncturist specialising in offering acupuncture to help people with trouble conceiving.
Every industry has different target markets. When people start a business, they often offer their service to anyone willing to spend money. But if you’ve spoken to a marketing expert, they will confirm that focusing on everyone means focusing on no one!
If you’re a cake maker and all it says on your website is that you make cakes, visitors won’t know if you make celebration cakes, wedding cakes, tall cakes, tray bakes, cake pops, etc. While you might be offering all these things, it’s best to guide your visitors and help them find the information they’re after.

Will SEO work for my business?
SEO – Search Engine Optimisation – works for any local, national or international business! For some businesses and industries, results can be achieved quickly, especially if your industry has been “asleep” and has not realised that people use Google to find its services! I’ve seen people joining our club, and they started ranking in Google within a matter of weeks!
For others, it might take longer – years – to build a strong foundation. Should that put you off? Absolutely not! Building a business with a strong content and SEO foundation will save you so much time in the next few years!
Imagine this: Your website has lots of exciting and relevant content. You get a new customer, and they ask you a question that you get asked all the time. You can easily send them a link to your website where you’ve already answered their question. They will feel like you’ve read their mind!
Also, our members find that by answering customers’ questions on their website, the customers who eventually contact them are super prepared. They have studied your website and will contact you with more direct questions about your products and services.
Don’t be put off if your industry has a lot of competition! Many industries have been asleep and have not put in the leg work to create a business that ranks highly in Google. Even if you search for your business type in Google, for example, “landscaper”, you might find many businesses. Chances are they are there because they exist, but not because they have done a good SEO job. If you’re the landscaper following the SEO guidance, you can quickly march past them – to the top of Google! And when your competition wakes up realising they’ve been pushed away from their top spot, they a) don’t know how you’ve done it and b) are too late and won’t catch up!
Is SEO better than Social Media Marketing?
When people open a social media app, they have no plan
On social media, they want to be entertained, check what’s new. They scroll and read if something resonates.
They have no plan.
When people open Google, they have a purpose
On Google, they have a question, they’re looking for a solution, a product, a service, information or navigation.
They have a purpose and they know they will find an answer.
Social media problem 1: Your content is not yours
If you have a business page on social media, you could – by accident – post something that goes against their rules, and you’re faced with the deactivated business page scenario that many businesses have experienced. This is super stressful as their business depends on it. Often, this can be resolved within a matter of days, but I have seen this issue happen for months in some instances and it’s super stressful to the business owners!
If your business depends on these platforms, you should be super careful.
This isn’t scare-mongering! I have seen this happen too many times, unfortunately! One day, it delivers customers; the next day, the page is gone, and you get a one-liner from Facebook saying your content goes against their guidelines! It’s then up to you to contact them to get your page back!
Social media problem 2: Your content has a super short shelf life
Any content you put on any social media has a super short shelf life!
The average lifespan of a Facebook post is a mere 105 minutes, and a Tweet? Blink, and you’ll miss it in just 24 minutes. Here are the 2023 stats for the shelf life of your social media content:
- Facebook: 105 minutes
- X (Twitter): 24 minutes
- TikTok: Instant decay
- Instagram: 20 hours
- LinkedIn: 24 hours
- YouTube: 8.8 days
- Pinterest: 3.75 months
- A blog post: 2 years
Can you now see where you should be spending your time?
The perfect marketing channel for introverts: SEO
If you’re an extrovert, you’re cut out for the social media dance! You’re happy to create lots of videos and content for Social Media and build your business this way. You love being on video and talking into a camera.
People want to be entertained on social media. They want to see what’s new and often aimlessly scroll and only read if something resonates. They have no plan.
However, when people go to Google, they have a question! They’re looking for a solution, a product, a service, information or navigation. They open Google with a purpose and know they will find an answer!
Yet, most small business owners spend ALL their marketing time creating content for social media rather than for their website!
SEO is the perfect marketing channel for you if you’re an introvert (like me). You can build such a strong content foundation. And you don’t need to speak with anyone. Let Google pick up your content and consistently deliver new customers to you.
Here’s why SEO works for you when you’re an introvert
- If you love writing (or you are okay with learning to write articles), SEO involves creating content like articles or blog posts.
- There is no rush for results: SEO is a patient game. You can take your time to do things well.
- Skip the networking: When you’re consistently working on your SEO, Google will deliver new clients. There is no need to attend networking events.
- Results will show that when you’ve worked on your website consistently, people will notice your work. You get credit for your achievements without shouting about them.
- Work from anywhere: You don’t need to be in your office when working on your SEO. You can do this in your own time when it suits you.
How can I get support?
Depending on your membership package, you can join and get email support and participate in our regular online Q&A sessions, or you can simply follow along and learn in your own time. You can also ask questions in the members-only Facebook group and get support from other members.
Do I really need SEO?
Yes, of course! Well, you’d expect me to say that because I am selling a course on it! But have a look at what SEO can do for your business:
- Boost your online visibility: SEO helps your website and business appear higher in search results when people look for products or services like yours. That means more potential customers can find you online.
- Be more competitive: By learning about SEO, you level the playing field and increase your chances of standing out.
- It’s super cost-effective marketing: Once you understand it, you can implement SEO strategies without a big marketing budget.
- Attract the right customers: With SEO, you can attract people actively looking for what you offer. These are often high-quality leads and are more likely to convert into paying customers.
- Build your credibility: When your website ranks well in search results, it gives your business a sense of authority and trustworthiness. People tend to trust businesses that appear at the top of search engines.
- Understand your customers better: Learning SEO involves understanding your audience’s behaviour online. This knowledge can help you tailor your products or services to meet their needs more effectively.
- Reach local customers: If you run a business in a specific area, local SEO techniques can help attract nearby customers.
- Take control: When you understand SEO, you’re not reliant on expensive agencies or experts to manage your online presence.
SEO is like a roadmap to getting noticed by the right people. It can help you expand your customer base and stay ahead of your competition. Embrace SEO if you want to grow your business!
